Group Activity Descriptions
9/11 Tribute Center - Self-guided visit to museum galleries. Learn about the events of 9/11 through authentic personal experiences. Five immersive environments detailed below provide first person perspective through videos, artifacts, photos and personal stories. The 9/11 Tribute Center is a must-see experience to fully appreciate the significance of the 9/11 Memorial, as the Center provides meaning and context of the events. (30 - 45 minutes, $10/Student)
World Trade Center Remembered: Soaring historic images from atop the original World Trade Center Towers, video and a 3-D model of the Towers share the vibrant spirit of the community and an appreciation for what was lost.
Passage through Time: A series of timeline units convey personal perspectives of the events. Artifacts, photographs, audio clips, and video reveal the depth of loss and strength to recover.
Aftermath Rescue and Recovery: Artifacts, a steel beam from the Towers, and video pay tribute to the thousands of people who worked tirelessly in the immediate aftermath in rescue and recovery operations alongside police and firefighters
Tribute: A contemplative and spiritual setting invites visitors to pay tribute to all those lost. The names of the victims, 2,000 photographs shared by family members, and mementos create a living memorial.
Building World Trade: Building designs and facts about the new World Trade Center complex are dramatically exhibited. Share in the international dialogue adding your thoughts about how 9/11 affected your life or actions take in remembrance.
9/11 Tribute Center & 9/11 Memorial Guided Tour* - Self-guided visit to the 9/11 Tribute Center described above and personally guided tour of 9/11 Memorial highlighting the history of the World Trade Center, the historic events and aftermath. Each tour offers unique personal experiences of survival, loss and healing and ends in a discussion of rebuilding the World Trade Center. Tour guides personally experienced the events directly as 9/11 survivors, firefighters, police and recovery workers, lower Manhattan residents, or 9/11 family members that lost loved ones. Limit 20 people per tour (60 - 90 minutes, $20/Person)
9/11 Tribute Center Education Program – Students will tour the museum galleries to experience the impact of 9/11 through the stories of those who were there. Primary sources include: videos, artifacts, images, oral histories. After touring the galleries, students may speak with a Tribute Guide who will share their personal 9/11 experience and inspire a dialogue about the future. Recommended 4–12th Grade. Limit 60 students (60-90 minutes, $10/Student 4 – 12th Grade)
Guided Audio Tour 9/11 Tribute Center & 9/11 Memorial* - Audio tour (English or Spanish) through the galleries and outside to the 9/11 Memorial. The tour is narrated by Lee Ielpi, President of the September 11th Families Association. Features the personal experiences from 20 people affected by 9/11 and interpretation of the 9/11 Memorial. Ideal for groups over 25 with a limited time frame. (75 minutes, $20/Person)
*9/11 Memorial Pass – Advance reservations to the 9/11 Memorial subject to $2 nonrefundable service fee which goes directly to the 9/11 Memorial. Guided and Audio Tours require 9/11 Memorial Pass.
